Three outstanding athletes have been celebrated as May’s top performers for their exceptional contributions to netball, football, and rugby. Fildausi Namulema, Shadia Nabirye, and Malcom Okello have each received the prestigious Fortebet Real Stars awards for their remarkable achievements.
Fildausi Namulema: Netball Champion
Fildausi Namulema, playing as a center for the National Insurance Corporation (NIC) netball club, has been named the best netball player of May. Namulema’s extraordinary performance earned her the Fortebet Real Stars award, outshining competitors Rachael Nanyonga and Christine Namulumba from Prisons. She was instrumental in NIC’s victory at the 2024 East African Netball Championship in Dar-es-Salaam, Tanzania. Her exceptional play not only helped NIC win all eight matches but also earned her the Most Valuable Player (MVP) award, marking NIC’s 22nd East African title.
Shadia Nabirye: Football Prodigy
Shadia Nabirye from Kawempe Muslim Secondary School has been recognized as May’s best football player. Nabirye’s influential performance was crucial in her team’s success, leading them to a bronze medal at the CAF African Schools Championship in Zanzibar. Her impressive skills, including scoring three goals to become the tournament’s top scorer, helped her surpass other strong contenders like Vipers’ captain Milton Karisa and Emmanuel Ajo of Busoga United.
Malcom Okello: Rugby Excellence
Malcom Okello of Platinum Credit Heathens has been named the best rugby player of May. Okello’s outstanding performances on the field earned him this accolade, surpassing competitors Emily Lekuru and Ivan Magomu. His exceptional skills and dedication have made him a standout player in the rugby community, contributing significantly to his team’s success.
