Fortebet Real Stars Spotlight

In a celebration of athletic prowess, the Fortebet Real Stars Sports Monthly Awards for March have recognized the outstanding achievements of athletes across various disciplines during the African Games.

Lydia Namabiro was the rugby sensation, whose vital role in the Lady Rugby Cranes Sevens’ journey to fourth place in the HSBC Challengers Series in Montevideo was marked by scoring four tries. Her exceptional display outshone her peers, Norbert Okeny and Peace Lekuru, to win the rugby accolade.

The football award was clinched by Hakim Mutebi, who outperformed his Hippos teammate Usama Arafat and Catherine Nagadya of the Queen Cranes (Uganda U20 Women). His pivotal goal in the match against Congo during the games in Ghana was instrumental, earning him the title of the month’s most outstanding footballer, despite the team’s setback in the final against Ghana.

Weightlifting saw Davis Niyoyita rise to the occasion, winning three medals at the Games, including two silvers and a bronze, as a student from Kakungulu Memorial School Kibuli, thus earning the top spot in his discipline.

March’s Athletic Honorees:

  • Football: Hakim Mutebi (Uganda Hippos)
  • Badminton: Husina Kobugabe
  • Rugby: Lydia Namabiro
  • Weightlifting: Davis Niyoyita
