Kyaggwe Ssaza Team Prepares for Historic Masaza Cup Final, Leaders Honored with Lifetime Achievement Awards

With just days remaining for Kyaggwe Ssaza team’s debut appearance in the Masaza Cup Final on November 2, 2024, against Buddu at Mandela National Stadium, excitement is building as four key team leaders received lifetime achievement awards. This recognition from Real Stars Sports Agency celebrates the dedication of Kyaggwe’s leadership, whose efforts have led to this historic milestone.

The agency, in partnership with Fortebet and Jude Color Solutions, awarded lifetime achievement accolades to those who have significantly contributed to Kyaggwe’s success. This marks the first time such awards were presented in the history of Real Stars Sports.

The accolades went to:

  • Head Coach David Steven Mutono Katono for his role in leading Kyaggwe to its first-ever Masaza Cup final. Katono also guided Kyaggwe to a previous best performance in 2016, when the team reached the semifinals.
  • CEO Julius Greg Kikomeko
  • Team Chairperson Hon. Stephen Sserubula Kinaalwa
  • County Chief Vincent Matovu Bintubizibu

At the award ceremony held on October 29, 2024, at Lazo Restaurant in Kololo, Coach Mutono expressed confidence ahead of the final:

“It’s an honor to be recognized by the award organizers. This achievement is a blessing, and I couldn’t have done it alone. From day one, we set our sights on the trophy, and I assure you, we’re bringing it home to Kyaggwe.”

Monthly Real Stars Sports Awards Recognize Top Performers for October

The October edition of the Real Stars Sports Awards honored top athletes in three disciplines:

  1. Badminton – Rising star Augustus Owinyi received his first accolade after an exceptional performance at the 7th City Tyres East Africa Badminton Challenge, where he claimed three gold medals in Men’s Singles, Doubles, and Team events for Uganda. Owinyi, a 24-year-old Ndejje University student, outperformed top competitors, including Uganda’s female seed Fadhila Shimika Rafi and Tracy Naluwooza.
  2. FootballAllan Okello from Vipers SC was awarded the monthly accolade for his impressive goal contributions both at the national level and in his club performances. Okello beat nominees Josephine Nambuya of Kawempe Muslim and Seiri Arigumaho of Brightstars.
  3. MotorsportMike Mukula Junior emerged as October’s top performer, surpassing Omar Nasser and Ronald Ssebuguzi. Mukula recently achieved a strong second-place finish in the ARC Championship in Rwanda, positioning himself as a top contender in the ARC 2 category.

These awards celebrate outstanding performances across sports, highlighting individual achievements and contributions to Ugandan sports.
